One Quick Poem

A pinpoint star
hung askance
in the basement of a cobwebbed house.

The cobwebbed house
stood alone:
awkward, empty, with no one there.

No one there
to hear the thud
when the star collapsed to the dusty floor

And the sounds of dreams
disappeared, and in a twinkling were
no more.
