Two Peonies

This is an old poem, but I’m experimenting with using video as a means to occasionally record and deliver poetry. Ignore the fancy promotional bit at the end; I just quickly imported my video to one of the first free online video editors I could find, and the result was some extra advertising graphics I don’t exactly want. Suggestions welcome πŸ™‚

Two peonies are blooming under the sky,
But I am too sick with nerves to come by
And loiter with them and ask their pardon
For looking so pale inside their garden:
They would wince, close, lose their beauty, dry;
They would drop their petals, sullen, and sigh:
Goodbye, good child, good-bye, good bye.

    very beautiful, I love your poem, i always want to draw someting about them. I know you finally went to Italy, and I am back to China too. but please let me know how you are doing.

    • Wow, Cheech, thanks for such a nice comment. I didn’t know you visited my blog! It would be an honor to have you illustrate one of my poems or short stories some time–I would love that!

      Italy was great. I met some nice people, learned some Italian, and ate really good food. But I’m back in the States now, and I’ve just started school again (to take the science classes needed to apply for medical school).

      When did you go back to China? I didn’t realize you’d moved away. I hope all is OK? Will you still pursue your dreams of art/illustration grad school?

      Thanks again for stopping in. Hope this note finds you well!
