Brief Thoughts (No. 2)

To write something true, you need to confront some difficult things.

It’s not easy to examine your soul, and your heart, and sustain the focus required to get to the very bottom – or, let’s say, the very center – of things.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s an easy business. It will demand much of you, and it might exhaust you from time to time.

It’s not, I reckon, for the faint of heart.

(For if your heart is faint, your writing will be faint, too.)
